SCM-M014A05: Quality Assurance for Higher Education in Lebanon (QAHEL)
Objectives
Design and Develop three guides in quality assurance for higher
education.
Train Lebanese academics in the field.
Encourage and help higher education institutions to establish their own
institutional quality centers.
Outcomes
Evaluate “Quality in Lebanon now”.
Development and dissemination of three quality assurance guides.

Evaluation of “Quality in Lebanon” Development of a questionnaire
(closed-ended questions covering the most important areas adopted by
international QAs) Main Areas (Covered):( Mission statements,
Goals, Program Planning, student admission, academic appointments,
academic staff appraisal, support services, research, self and external
evaluation, benchmarking ,governance,non-academicqualityissues(attractivenessofcampus,positiveattitudeofstaff…).
Quality assurance guides
Guide I “Introduction to Quality Management in Higher Education”
Specific Objective: Provide basic knowledge in Quality Management for
Higher Education. Encourage a culture of quality improvement
Guide II “ Self-Evaluation in Higher Education Institutions":
Specific Objective: Suggest performance indicators and standards for
quality assurance for the Lebanese higher education institutions
Guide III “Quality Audits and Accreditation” Specific Objective:
Increase the familiarity of Lebanese academics with HE
audit/accreditation processes and methodologies.
