Lebanon as Head of the Security Council

In the presence of the representative of the Lebanese Republic Minister Adnan El Sayyed Hussein, the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Beirut Arab University organized a conference under the title of: “Lebanon as Head of the Security Council” on Friday the 28th of May 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in Jamal Abdul Nasser Hall within the premises of Beirut campus.

The conference was attended by the Ex-Ministers Mr. Fawzi Salloukh and Mr. Edmond Rizk, Professor of General International Law in the Lebanese University Prof. Chafic Al Masri, Captain of the Lebanese Press Syndicate Mr. Mohamad Baalbaki, Vice President of the Constitutional Council Mr. Tarek Ziadé, Head of the General International Law Department at Beirut Arab University Dr. Mohamad Majzoub, President of Beirut Arab University Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi, Secretary General of Beirut Arab University Mr. Issam Houri, Deans of Faculties.

President El Adawi emphasized the significance of this event as Lebanon holds the presidency of the Security Council which indicates the important international role Lebanon plays in the United Nations. He declared that the UN Security Council affects all the countries worldwide as it is established to maintain peace and resolve all conflicts among nations.

Dean of Faculty of Law and Political Science Prof. Hafiza El Haddad stated that naming Lebanon as Head of the Security Council will positively affect the region since Lebanon represents the Arab countries.

After the opening ceremony, several discussion sessions were held whereby all relevant issues and subjects were raised in the presence of specialized professors and audience.



After the opening ceremony, all participants, accompanied by President of Beirut Arab University, had a tour on the 96 exhibited projects that belong to graduate and postgraduate students.
