“Salamatok” was the title of the public campaign
launched in Beqaa as part of the series of the Golden Jubilee
festivities of Beirut Arab University.
The campaign was organized by the Faculty of Medicine and it comes in
accordance with the university policy to serve the society different
medical, cultural, academic and social needs.
The campaign took place at the Kaderi Grand Hotel - Zahle in the
presence of the Head of Zahle Deputies Mr. Toni Abou Khater, Members of
Parliament: Mr. Assem Araji, Mr. Chanet Jenjian, Mr. Jamal Jarrah, Mr.
Amin Wehbe, Dr. Mohamad Smaily representing the Minister of Education
and Higher Education, Dr. Antoine Harmouch representing the Minister of
Health, Head of Board of Trustees of Wakf el Bir Wal Ihsan Mr. Toufic
Houri, Head of both the Middle and the West Beqaa Municipalities.
Several Speeches were delivered during the opening ceremony which all
emphasized the importance of founding such campaigns that would
contribute to the good of the society.
The 5-day campaign (from 20th till the 24th of February 2010) included
the following villages: Saadnayel, Kobb Elias, Zahle, Riak, Barrelias,
Rachia, Majdel Anjar, Jibjinneen, Hosh El Haremeh, Ghaza, Yanta, Beit
Lahiam Soughbein, Kefraya, Aita El Foukkhar, Ezza, Mashghara, Kawkaba,
Majdel Balhees, Dahr El Ahmar, Lala and Kaaroun.
“Salamatok” Campaign also comes with the collaboration of the Beqaa
regional hospitals and medical centers which will be offering discounts
on all medical fees . It also includes an “Awareness Campaign” in all of
the regional schools presented by students of the Faculty of Medicine
according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Higher
Education.
