1 – Overall Aim of Course

To give students an understanding of the use of quantum mechanics to model the structure of atoms and describe real systems and real phenomena, and learn how to do calculations in more realistic settings, in particular via various approximation methods. Knowledge of the concepts of quantum physics is fundamental to the understanding of the mechanisms used widely in modern science and technology. It also emphasizes the relevance of physics to technology, instrumentation and measurement:

2- Objectives

    - Understand the operator matrices and spin with the addition of angular momenta.    

    - Understand the origin of quantum numbers and be able to solve the Schrödinger equation. Become familiar with atomic units and use them correctly in problem solving    

    - Understand the Interaction of electron with electromagnetic field and be able to use it in simple problems    

    - Understand the concept of perturbation theory     

    - Use critical thinking and scientific problem solving to make informed decisions    

    - Cultivate a professional attitude and develop skills relation teamwork and responsibility for individual learning    

    - Understand that the wavefunctions of atoms and molecules

At the end of the course, students should be able to    

    Knowledge and Understanding     

        - Understand the theory of the principles of quantum physics     

        - Demonstrate familiarity with theories and concepts of quantum physics.

        - Apply appropriate theories, principles and concepts relevant to the quantum physics    

        - Analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources relevant to the subjects of this course.

        - Ability to identify, formulate, and solve problems in quantum physics

        - Exercise appropriate judgment in selecting and presenting information using various methods relevant to quantum physics

        - Efficient use of the techniques, skills, and tools of solving problem in quantum mechanics
