Mission

The mission of the department of Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is to prepare postgraduates with in-depth knowledge and research skills for professional careers in the discipline of Microbiology and Immunology as well as Hematology and Blood banking. The department is committed to prepare postgraduates for leadership and managerial roles in the clinical laboratory and professional organizations with a competitive edge in a rapidly changing and dynamic profession. To achieve its mission, the department relies on highly specialized dedicated staff members.

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants for the Master's Degree must hold a Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biology, Biochemistry or a health related disciplines from Beirut Arab University or any recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 2.33 for credit hour system students and ''Good'' for the academic year system students; or a Specialized Graduate Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.33 or its equivalent.
  • Evidence of English proficiency (BAU English Test: 60, TOEFL:520 OR ILETS:5.5)
  • Students who passed 70% of the courses with a minimum CGPA of 2.33 are eligible to register the thesis along with the remaining courses.

Graduation Requirements

The Master Degree requirement in Medical Laboratory Sciences (2 Tracks) requires the completion of 36 Credit hours taken as follows:

  • Mandatory Courses (24 credits)
  • Elective Courses (6 credits)
  • Thesis (6 credits)

Students who passed 70% of the courses with a minimum CGPA of 2.33 are eligible to register the project along with the remaining courses. The student loses the right to proceed in the program if he did not complete the requirements according to postgraduate bylaws.

Graduates of our program will be prepared to work in healthcare organizations ranging from private laboratories, hospitals, clinics, pharmaceutical companies, health assurance units, and infection control teams and Ministry of public health. Our postgraduate students can always have the option of building a career in education and research.
