The celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Beirut Arab University continues in the form of a series of festivities. The third Joint Congress under the title of “Recent Advances in Ophthalmic Investigations and Surgery” was organized by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Mohamad Khedr with the collaboration of the Department of Ophthalmology at Alexandria University and the Lebanese Ophthalmological Society.
 

The conference was held between 5th and 7th of March, 2010 under the patronage and in the presence of the Minister of Public Health Dr. Mohamad Jawad Khalifa, Captain of the Lebanese Order of Physicians and the Secretary General of the Arab Medical Union Prof. George Aftimos, President of the Lebanese Ophthalmological Society Dr. Mohamad Younes, President of Alexandria University Prof. Hind Hanafy, Head of the Ophthalmology Department at Alexandria University Dr. Dalal Chawki, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Alexandria University Dr. Mahmoud El-Zalbani, President of Beirut Arab University Prof. Amr Galal El-Adawi, Secretary General of Beirut Arab University Mr. Issam Houri, deans and directors from Beirut Arab University in addition to a number of researches and doctors from other institutions.
 

The conference commenced with the Lebanese Anthem. It was followed by speeches that emphasized the importance of inquiring more about the different symptoms of the Ophthalmic diseases and its various latest cures and surgeries.
A series of lectures oriented by a number of specialized Ophthalmic professors followed the conference opening which dealt with diverse issues related to recent advances in cataract, refractive and corneal surgery and other relevant issues.
