Biography

Prof. Nahed Attia received her Bachelor degree in dental surgery with honors in 1974 from Alexandria University, Egypt. She pursued her Diploma degree in the field of Oral medicine, Periodontology, Diagnosis and Radiology in 1977 from the same university. Then she completed her studies in Oral medicine, Periodontology, Diagnosis and Radiology and obtained her PhD in 1981 also from Alexandria University. She is a full time Professor of Oral Medicine and Periodontology in Beirut Arab University.  Dr Attia is the coordinator of the Medical Ethics committee Faculty of Dentistry at Beirut Arab University.  She is also a member of the Quality assurance Committee from 2009 till present.  She is chairperson of Biological and diagnostic Sciences Department and director of the division of Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry at Beirut Arab University.

Teaching

Teaching Experience

Throughout the working experience and teaching as instructor in Oral Medicine, Periodontology, Oral Diagnosis and Radiology Dept. (1975-1978), assistant lecturer (1978- 1982), Assistant Professor (1982- 1987), Associate Professor (1987-1992), Professor (1992- 2008) at Alexandria University. She worked as a visiting Professor at Beirut Arab university (1998-2001), Gar Unis University, Libya (1999, 2000, 2002), and in Al Margab University, and Al Fateh University Libya (2006, 2007). Professor Attia worked as a full time professor (2008- present) at Beirut Arab University. Many topics and aspects of the main speciality of Oral medicine, periodontology, oral diagnosis and radiology has been taught, oral ulcerations, bleeding and hematological disorders, infectious diseases, advanced Periodontal surgical procedures, dental  implantology and grafting techniques, Digital radiography and medical emergencies in dental office, are some examples of the fields and aspects that are given to undergraduate and postgraduate students within the speciality of Oral Medicine periodontology, oral diagnosis and radiology.

Research Interest

The research interest are: Periodontal surgical techniques for root coverage, Oral implantology, the application of PRF in  periodontal defects and with dental implants, new grafting materials for osseous defects and ridge augmentation also application of laser for surgical and non surgical  periodontal therapy.
