1- Overall Aim of Course

RATIONALE
Through a deeper insight into the molecular structure, the course aims to provide a challenging experience for those who wish to study the subject to a greater depth and to assist candidates towards an understanding of the use of mathematical models and techniques for describing the behavior of atoms and molecules. The course seeks to illustrate and emphasize situations where the principles of physics are used and applied, thus promoting the candidate’s awareness that physics involves interaction between theory and practice.

2- Objectives
    
    - To provide opportunities to develop the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of the concepts of molecular physics.    

    - Learn how to do calculations in more realistic settings, in particular via various approximation methods.     

    - Demonstrate theoretical knowledge and have practical skills and personal attributes and competencies that will be required for molecular Physics    

    - Understand analytical and technical principles that related to Molecular Physics and provide the ability to solve problems and to carry out experimental and investigative work.     

    - The course seeks to illustrate and emphasize situations where the principles of Molecular Physics are used and applied, thus promoting the candidate’s awareness that Molecular Physics involves interaction between theory and practice.    

    - Be able to understand the different techniques of approximation    

3– Intended Learning Outcomes of Course (ILOs)

At the end of the course, students should be able to

    Knowledge and Understanding     

        - Understand the principles of the theoretical calculation of the wave function and the energy of different electronic states of an atom and molecule.      
    
        - Demonstrate familiarity with the different techniques of calculation    

    Intellectual Abilities  
 

        - Apply appropriate theories, principles and concepts relevant to the study of atoms and molecules    
    
        - Analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources relevant to the subjects of this course.

        - Ability to identify, formulate and solve problems.    

    Professional and Practical Competencies
    
        - Cultivate a professional attitude and develop skills related to efficient use of the techniques, skills, and tools of solving problem related to atoms molecules
