Beirut Arab University Dinner in Honor of Media Figures

On 16 November 2011, Beirut Arab University held a dinner in honor of figures from different media: written, audio-visual and electronic at Phoenicia Hotel.


The event was started with the National Anthem and BAU Anthem followed by a welcoming speech given by the director of Public Relations, Mrs. Zina Ariss through which she praised the role of media figures and the fourth power whose strong power stems from the power of Right the Truth, and the law of respect for Others and Others’ Opinions.
 

 
 

The President of BAU, Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi, then spoke explaining that BAU’s faith in the role of the media in spreading culture and knowledge and uncovering Right and Truth are the reasons for honoring the media figures. He also said, “Knowledge and media information are values that address reasoning and conscience; both are values guided by ethics as well as powers that guide people’s morals and knowledge. The President pointed to BAU Media Center and its role in training and developing students’ potentials prior to setting off to the job market, namely to media companies.

   
   
 

The event was attended by Deputy Ammar Houri representing X-Prime Minister, Mr. Saad Al Hariri; the Deputies Mohammad Al Hajjar, Samir Al-Jisr, Khaled Zahraman; and a number of universities Presidents in addition to the ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt, Mohammad Mostapha Tawfik; the ambassador of Sudan, Idris Suleiman; the Charge D’affaires of Oman Embassy, Seif Bin Said Al-Amery; the Cultural Attache’ of KSA Embassy, Musaed Bin Ahmad Al-Jarrah; and the Charge D’affaires of UAE Embassy, Salem Al Jaberi, and many other diplomats.

   
   
 

The President of BAU handed honor shields to the following media companies: Al Nahar, Al Safir, Al Liwaa, Al Moustaqbal, Al Anwar, Al Diaar, Al Akhbar, The Daily Star, Al Hayat, Al Shark Al-Awsat, Tele-Liban, LBC, MTV, OTV, NTV, El Manar, The National News Agency for Information/Media. In addition, the president handed shields to the Press order, Editors order, photographers syndicate, Economy and Business Group, in addition to the media people: Warda Al Zamel, Dr. May Shediak, Walid Abboud, Zaven Qyomedjian, George Yasmin, Imad Marmal, Abido Bacha for their contributions and highlighting Educational, Developmental, Environmental, Social and Youth issues.
