Within the frame of the serial celebrations of Beirut
Arab University Golden Jubilee, an outstanding concert was held by Ahmad
Kaabour for the fiftieth memorial of the Lebanese Poet Omar El Zeinni.
The concert was entitled “Ahmad Kaabour Sings Omar Zeinnie” and was held
on the 11th of February, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in Jamal Abdel Nasser Hall in
Beirut Campus.
The event was attended by MP Dr. Ammar Houri representing the Lebanese
Prime Minister Sheikh Saeddine Rafic Hariri, Ex-Prime Minister Foad
Siniora accompanied with his wife Hoda, Mr. Mostafa Zaatari, , General
Director of Hariri Foundation, Mr. Amin Daouk, President of Makassed
Foundation in Beirut, Mr. Mohamad Raji Bsat, President of Makassed
Foundation in Saida , Mrs. Salwa Siniora Baasiri, Secretary General of
the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO, Mr. Samir Zeinnie,
Secretary General of the Center of Omar Zeinnie, Prof. Amr Galal El-Adawi,
President of Beirut Arab University, Mr. Issam Houri, Secretary General
of Beirut Arab University, deans and administrators from Beirut Arab
University in addition to other artists.
After playing the Lebanese and the University Anthems, a selection of 12
verses from Zeinni’s works were chosen by Kaabour which he performed in
his unique and awesome manner. Kaabour ended the concert with his own
“Ounadeekom” and “Baddi Ghanni Linnas” songs.
At the end of the concert, President El Adawi thanked Kaabour for
renovating the Lebanese heritage and promised that Beirut Arab
University will keep its commitment in reviving both the Lebanese and
the Arab heritage through different cultural performances.
