Human Rights Center Organizes the
“Responsible and Active Youth for Positive Change”
The Human Rights Center at Beirut Arab University hosted the third
part of the “Responsible and Active Youth for Positive Change” Project
for the
“Association Libanaise pour l’education et la Formation” (ALEF) which is
funded by the Canadian Embassy within the frame of CIDA Project.
This Association is a non-governmental organization which believes in
the absolute value of human rights. Its mission is to trigger and
contribute to a cumulative process of changing values, attitudes and
values compatible with the universal values of Human Rights through the
Education and Outreach Program, Monitoring and Advocacy Program and the
Child Rights Program.
The project which began in October 2010 has a number of goals and
objectives to serve the human rights issues. It aims at establishing a
“toolkit” regarding the community youth peacemaking and human rights
which are planned, implemented and evaluated by the youth. It also aims
at enhancing the youth skills in acting as community peace makers in
their community, in addition to promoting positive empowerment of the
youth in the Lebanese society.
Volunteers from Beirut Arab University participated in this project
through several activities such as discussion panels, oral communication
activities and other games and riddles.
This event which lasted till May 20th, 2011 paved the way for more
cooperation and involvement among the youth.
