“Beirut Arab University, 1960-2010, the Scientific, Social and Political Transformations in Lebanon  and the Arab World”

Lecture by Dr.Hassan Hallak

Within the Frame of celebrating the Golden Jubilee and thus launching more academic and cultural festivities at Beirut Arab University, a lecture entitled “Beirut Arab University 1960-2010, the Scientific, Social and Political Transformations in Lebanon and the Arab World” was delivered by Dr. Hassan Hallak, member of Wakf El Bir and Al Ihsan, on 14th of January, 2010 at Jamal Abdel Nasser Hall within the Premises of Beirut Campus. The lecture was attended by Mr. Moustafa Zaatari, General Director of Hariri Foundation, Mr. Mohamad Raji Bsat , President of the Makassed Islamic Association in Saida, Prof. Amr Jalal El Adawi, President of Beirut Arab University, Mr. Toufic Houry , Head of Board of Trustees of Wakf El Bir and Al Ihsan, Mr. Issam Houri, Secretary General of Beirut Arab University, deans of faculties, academic staff members, in addition to some directors and administrators.
 

After playing the Lebanese and the University Anthems, Prof. Al Adawi introduced Dr. Hallak and explained the main theme behind the lecture which deals with the history of Beirut Arab University and how it was founded 50 years ago.In his lecture, Dr. Hallak elaborated on the main issue behind founding Beirut Arab University and the great support provided by Egypt during Jamal Abdel

Nasser’s reign. He also highlighted the start of this educational institution with one faculty to become ten today in addition to other campuses throughout Lebanon.
In the end, Dr. Hallak praised both the moral and the financial support of the Board of Trustees of Wakf Al Bir and Al Ihsan and expressed his gratitude for their devotion and continuous efforts. He also hinted at his deep and sincere feelings towards Beirut Arab University
