Arab University celebrated the Golden Jubilee Commencement
Beirut Arab University celebrated the 47th graduation
ceremony “The Commencement of the Golden Jubilee” on the 1st of July
2010 within the premises of Debbieh Campus in a huge and unique
celebration which marked BAU's 50 years of quality education.
One thousand, five hundred ninety -four students graduated from the
various Faculties at Beirut Arab University. The ceremony was attended
by Deputy Mohamad Hajjar representing the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad
Eddine Hariri , Deputy Dr. Ammar Houri representing the Lebanese
Ex-Prime Minister Mr. Foad Saniora, the Minister of Higher Education and
State for Scientific Research in Egypt Prof. Hani Hilal, Minister of
Agriculture Dr. Hussein Hajj Hasan, Director General of Higher Education
Dr. Ahmad Jammal representing the Minister of Higher Education,
President of Alexandria University Prof. Hind Hanafi, Mr. Ziad Yacoub
representing Deputy Mr. Dory Chamoun, Ambassador of Egypt in Lebanon Mr.
Ahmad Bidiawi, Mr. Abdel Latif Al Homeidan representing Ambassador of
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, other Universities' Presidents, Head of the
Board of Members of Wakf Al Bir Wal Ihsan Mr. Toufic Houri, Secretary
General of Beirut Arab University Mr. Issam Houri, BAU Staff members and
students’ families and friends.
The ceremony commenced with the graduates' parade followed by Beirut
Arab University President's, Deans' and Faculty members' parade. After
playing the Lebanese and the University Anthems, Director of the Public
Relations Department Mrs. Zina Ariss introduced the ceremony by
congratulating all the attendees on this distinctive event especially
that it is marked by Beirut Arab University 50th celebration and thus
this ceremony was entitled the Golden Jubilee Commencement.
Minister of Higher Education and State for Scientific Research in Egypt
Prof. Hani Hilal stressed on the mutual cooperation and collaboration
among all the society parties to promote with the quality education and
to consolidate the values of hard and constructive work. He encouraged
all graduates to be determined in fulfilling their aims and achieving
their goals hence leaving their positive impacts in the different fields
of life.
President of Alexandria University Prof. Hind Hanafi
said that Beirut Arab University has proven itself through the quality
education it has been providing all through the 50 years. The role it
has been playing to educate and enlighten the generations has always
been distinctive especially with the wide spread of all its alumni
throughout the whole world.
President of Beirut Arab University Prof. Amr Galal El Adawi mentioned
in his speech that this event comes as the coronation of the Golden
Jubilee Celebrations that Beirut Arab University has been undertaking
throughout the academic year 2009/10. It was marked with many
distinctive conferences, seminars, workshops and cultural activities. He
also announced that there were some agreements signed with some of the
international organizations such as the EMUNI.
Alumna Hiba Honeini from the Faculty of Law and Political Science spoke
on the behalf of the alumni and stated that it is time now for the
graduates to officially communicate with the society in order to fulfill
their ambitions and achieve high ranks.
At the end of the ceremony, certificates were handed in to all the
graduates. Twenty Eight students won Jamal Abdul Nasser Educational and
Scientific Excellence Award and some professors were granted
appreciation shields for their generous giving and great
accomplishments.
