ASSESSMENT & EXAMINATIONS

 

 

 

 

 

Students sit for examinations according to the following system:

FIRST YEAR

1- Anatomy and Embryology :(250 marks) : the student sits for a three- hours written examination,   which includes one compulsory question in Embryology (25 marks) and one compulsory question in Biology (20 marks), in addition to one practical test and one oral test.

2- Physiology (250 marks) : The student sits for a three- hours written examination, which includes a compulsory question in Biophysics (10 marks) in addition to one practical test and one oral test.

3- Medical Biochemistry (150 marks) : the student sits for a three-hours written examination which includes a compulsory question in Basic Chemistry (10 marks) in addition to one practical test and one oral test.

4- Histology (150 marks) : the student sits for a two-hours written examination in addition to one practical test and one oral test .

5- English (50 marks) : The student sits for one-hour written examination .

First year examination are held annually in June ( first session) and in September (second session).

Students move on to the second year in any case, since the first and second years are one stage.

 

SECOND YEAR

1- Anatomy and Embryology (250 marks) : the student sits for a three-hours written examination which includes one compulsory question in Embryology (25 marks ) in addition to one practical test and one oral test.

2-Physiology (250 marks) : the student sits for a three-hours written examination in addition to one practical test and one oral test.

3- Medical Biochemistry (150 marks) : the student sits for a three- hours written examination in addition to one practical  test and one oral test .

4- Histology (150 marks) : the student sits for a two-hours written examination in addition to one practical test and one oral test.

5- Behavioral Sciences, Medical Ethics and History of Medicine (50 marks ) : the student sits for one-hours written examination.

Examinations are held annually in June (first session) and in September (second session) in all subjects, including first year subjects if carried. Whoever fails in any subject is not permitted to proceed to  third year until he passes all courses. The marks of the courses 1,2,3,4 in the first year are added to the marks of the equivalent courses in the second year to obtain the general grades of those courses.

(Anatomy  500 marks - Physiology 500 marks)

(Biochemistry 300 marks- Histology 300 marks)

 

THIRD YEAR

1- Pathology (300 marks) : The student sits for a three-hours written examination in addition to one practical test and one oral test.

2- Pharmacology (250 marks): The student sits for a tree-hours written examination in addition to one practical test and one oral test.

3- Microbiology (150 marks): The student sits for a two-hours written examination in addition to one practical test and one oral test.

4- Medical Parasitology (150 marks): The student sits for a one-hour and a half examination in addition to one practical test and one oral test.

Marks for courses 2,3,4 are distributed as follows:

60 %  For the final written examination

20 %  For the final oral and practical tests

20 %  For the in-course years' examinations

Examinations are held in June (first session) and September (second session ) for those who have failed or are carrying subjects. Students cannot move on to the fourth year if they have failed in any subject.

 

FOURTH YEAR

1- Ophtalmology (200 marks): The student sits for a two-hours written examination in addition to one oral test and one clinical test.

2- Otorhinolarynology (100 marks): The student sits for one-hour and a half written examination in addition to one oral test and one clinical test.

3- Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (200 marks): The student sits for a two-hour written examination in addition to one oral test and one practical test.

4- Community Medicine (150 marks): The student sits for a three- hours written examination in addition to one oral test.

Marks for courses 3 and 4 are distributed as follows:

60 % For the final written examination.

20 % For the final oral and practical tests.

20 % For the in-course examinations.

Examinations are held in June (first session) and September (second session) and the student passes in all cases to the next year .

 

FIFTH YEAR

1- Gynecology and Obstetrics (400 marks) : The student sits for a three-hours written examination in addition to one oral test and one clinical test.

2- Pediatrics (300 marks): The student sits for a two-hours written examination in addition to one oral test and one clinical test.

3- community Medicine (100 marks): The student sits for a two-hours written examination in addition to one oral test.

Marks are distributed for the courses 3 as follows:

60 %  For the final written examination.

20%  For the final oral examination.

20% For the in-course years' examinations.

Examinations are held in June (first session) and September (second session) and the student passes in all cases to the next year (Marks for community medicine are 250 as follows: 150 marks for the fourth year + 100 marks for the fifth year)

 

SIXTH YEAR

1- Internal medicine (1000 marks): The student sits for two written examinations, the duration of each is three hours in addition to one oral test and one clinical test.

2- Surgery (1000 marks): The student sits for two written examinations, the duration of each is three  hours in addition to one oral test and one clinical test.

Examinations are held in September (first session) and February (second session).
