The Faculty of Health Sciences at Beirut Arab University offers 4 academic health-related B Sc programs namely; nursing, nutrition and dietetics, medical laboratories and physiotherapy.
The faculty has designed the undergraduate courses based on the Credit Hours System which gives students flexibility in their study. The degree requirements of each specialization consists of a total of 135 credit hours divided as mandatory core courses, faculty elective courses, university mandatory courses and university elective courses. The standard duration of the study is 8 semesters.
Students are privileged to be educated by highly qualified and experienced academic staff members and clinical instructors. Teaching/learning techniques are planned to facilitate providing excellence in education and practice.

History of the Faculty
The Faculty of Health Sciences is the most recent
addition to Beirut Arab University Faculties. The Faculty was established to meet the rising needs for
professionals specialized in health related sciences. The strategic vision of the Faculty of Health Sciences
is to contribute to the development and upgrading of health services in Lebanon and the region by providing
excellent undergraduate and postgraduate education of the highest quality. Graduates of this program will be
able to function in changing and diversifying health care setting. It is our mission to:

The standard duration of study for a bachelor degree in any specialization is
8 semesters. The requirements for each Bachelor Degree are as follows:
Bachelor of Nursing
The degree requirements consist of a total of 120 Credit Hours.
Bachelor of Nutrition & Dietetics
The degree requirements consist of a total of 120 Credit Hours.
Bachelor of Medical Lab & Technology
The degree requirements consist of a total of 120 Credit Hours.
Bachelor of Physical Therapy
The degree requirements consist of a total of 120 Credit Hours.
To be accepted for an undergraduate degree, applicants must:
• hold the official Lebanese Secondary School Certificate in a branch relevant
to the chosen undergraduate field of specialization, or an official equivalent;
• pass the relevant admission examinations in English Language – Biology &
Chemistry, Students wishing to major in Nursing & Physical Therapy should pass a
personal interview.
The Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences offers the
following:
1. Master Degree in the following nursing specializations:
• Medical surgical nursing
• Critical care nursing
• Obstetric & gynecological nursing
• Pediatric nursing
• Psychiatric & mental health nursing
• Community health nursing
• Geriatric nursing
• Nursing service administration
The Master Degree requirements consist of 36 Credit Hours.
2. Doctorate Degree in Nursing Science in the following
specializations:
• Medical surgical nursing
• Critical care nursing
• Obstetric & gynecological nursing
• Pediatric nursing
• Psychiatric & mental health nursing
• Community health nursing
• Geriatric nursing
• Nursing service administration
The Doctorate Degree requirements consist of 40 Credit Hours.
1. Applicants for the Master Degree must hold a Bachelor Degree obtained from
Beirut Arab University or any recognized university with a minimum CGPA grade of
“C”; or a Specialized Graduate Diploma with a minimum CGPA grade of “C” or its
equivalent.
2. Applicants for the Doctorate Degree must hold a Master degree from Beirut
Arab University or any other recognized university that qualifies him/her to
pursue their Doctorate Degree.
Master & Doctorate Degree students should pass the TOEFL exam with at least an
average of 500, or IELTS, or its equivalent in other languages before
registering for the thesis.
Nursing Department
Hospitals, primary health care centers, schools, elderly homes, national and
international health organization.
Nutrition and Dietetics Department
hospitals, licensed nutrition clinics, natural health and beauty centers and
food producing factories.
Medical Laboratory and Technology Department
Hospital's laboratories, private medical laboratories, laboratory-equipment
supplying companies, biomedical research centers, pharmaceutical industries and
blood banks.
Physical Therapy Department
Outpatient clinics or offices (private practice), hospitals, inpatient
rehabilitation facilities, extended care facilities, homes, education or
research centers, schools, industrial workplaces or other occupational
environments, fitness centers and sports training facilities.
