research and technical seminars that contribute to the growth of
individual knowledge and prepare for continuous learning.
Welcome to
the website of the Faculty of Engineering, Beirut Arab University. The Faculty
of Engineering is working hard to produce high quality graduates who are able to
compete in the workplace, and are capable of addressing the demands of the new
millennium, and that instill life-long learning abilities.
The Faculty
of Engineering strives to be among the most successful and respected Faculties
of Engineering in Lebanon and abroad, known for blending the best of past
convention with new practices and for fostering critical thinking, creativity,
innovation, originality and excellence.
Our main goal
is to offer high-quality, accredited undergraduate and graduate programs in
engineering and related fields that are market- and career-oriented, that
prepare professionally competent and broadly educated students. Moreover, the
faculty encourages conducting high-caliber basic and applied research in
engineering and related fields.
I firmly
believe that with our clear strategy (2007-2012), the Faculty of Engineering
will continue to grow and change to adjust to the complex demands of the 21st
century. This strategy includes six sections, covering Programs and Curricula,
Research and Graduate Programs, Faculty and Staff, Students and Student
Infrastructure, Partnerships and Cooperation, Services and Facilities. Each
section consists of main objectives followed by a corresponding action plan.
The faculty offers a
Bachelor of Engineering Degree in the following six specializations:
1. Electrical
Engineering in Communications & Electronics, Electric Power & Control and
Computer Engineering.
2. Civil and
Environmental Engineering.
3. Mechanical
Engineering.
4. Industrial
Management Engineering.

Enginnering Department
The graduate with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering shall have a wide range
of job opportunities. The ME applications are everywhere in both industrial
corporations and services sectors. Power stations, automotive service centers,
airplane maintenance,maritime applications, refrigerating systems,
air-conditioning systems, and off-shore platforms rely on Mechanical Engineers
as their backbone. Not a single hotel or a vacation resort can run properly and
efficiently without mechanical engineers. All projects need Mechanical Engineers
during all phases: Design, Construction, Operation, and Maintenance. Banks and
Insurance companies hire mechanical engineers for the purposes of evaluating
feasibility studies and assessing risks associated with projects.
Computer Engineering and
Informatics Department
Job prospects should be excellent, as computer engineers are expected to be
among the fastest growing occupations through the year 2018.Computer engineers
hold jobs as computer applications software engineers and computer systems
software engineers. These jobs are dispersed over many industries with the
largest concentration in computer systems design and related services. Many
computer engineers work for establishments in other industries, such as software
publishers, government agencies, manufacturers of computers, microprocessor and
electronic chips companies, financial institutions, insurance providers,
universities and management of companies and enterprises. An increasing number
of computer engineers work as independent consultants. It is one of the
occupations projected to grow the fastest and add the most new jobs over the
next decade. Many computer engineers are involved in the design and development
of hardware and different types of software, computer games, word processing and
business applications, operating systems and network distribution and compilers.
They are also heavily involved in designing computer networks, routers and
switches and in the utilities and operating systems of cellular phones.
