History of the Faculty
The Faculty of Dentistry at BAU was established in 1995 aiming to provide Lebanon and the region with highly qualified oral health care practitioners.
The Faculty of Dentistry attracts highly qualified and trained full-time staff members who are responsible for the teaching and clinical training, additional part-time clinical assistants and international visitors are sharing with their experiences and variety of concepts and treatment modalities.
Modern clinics and well-equipped laboratories distinguish the Faculty of Dentistry in the region. Research facilities are also available in the Dental School, the School of Engineering, and the School of Sciences.
The Faculty of Dentistry offers the Bachelor Degree in Dental Surgery (B.D.S.)
where the Bachelor Degree requirements consist of a total of 180 Credit Hours.
The undergraduate program is structured so as to provide the dental student with
comprehensive didactic dental education, as well as extensive clinical and
laboratory training in all dental specialties and related Medical sciences.
To be accepted for an undergraduate degree, applicants must:
hold the official Lebanese Secondary School Certificate in a branch relevant
to the chosen undergraduate field of specialization, or an official equivalent;
pass an admission examination in: English Language Biology Physics &
Chemistry.
Diplomas
The Diploma requirements for all specializations vary between 40 60 Credit
Hours according to the field of specialization.
The standard duration of study to obtain a Diploma vary between 4 6 semesters
according to the filed of specialization.
Master of Science in Dentistry Degree (M.Sc.D)
The Master of Science in Dentistry Degree requirements for all specializations,
vary between 46 66 Credit Hours according to the field of specialization.
The standard duration of study to obtain the Master of Science in Dentistry
Degree varies between 4 6 semesters according to the field of specialization.
PhD and D.Sc.D Degrees
The Faculty of Dentistry offers the following Degrees:
A- Doctor of Science in Dentistry (D.Sc.D)
B- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
The PhD and D.Sc.D Degrees requirements for all specializations consist of 50
Credit Hours where
the standard duration of study to obtain the PhD and D.Sc.D Degrees is six
semesters minimum.
1. Applicants for any of the postgraduate diplomas must hold a Bachelor
Degree obtained from BAU or any other recognized university.
2. Applicants for the Master Degree must hold a Bachelor Degree obtained from
Beirut Arab University or any recognized university with a minimum CGPA grade of
C; or a Specialized Graduate Diploma with a minimum CGPA grade of C or its
equivalent.
3. Applicants for the PhD Degree must hold a Master degree from Beirut Arab
University or any other recognized university that qualifies him/her to pursue
their PhD.Master & PhD students should pass the TOEFL exam with at least an
average of 500, or IELTS, or its equivalent in other languages before
registering for the thesis.
