ORBL 223 Oral Biology I

The course aims to provide the students with the basic mechanisms involved in differentiation, growth and development of the tooth and its supporting tissues. Consideration is given to the molecular and cellular regulation of development. This course also deals with the basic chemistry, crystallography and ultra structure of the enamel, dentin, pulp, cementum, and periodontal ligament. The course enables the students to acquire the skill to examine and interpret information from histological and ultrastructural micrographs against which pathological changes may be contrasted.
