MICR 222 Microbiology and Immunology

Cr: 2 (2 Lec., 1 Pract.) Prerequisite BCHM 221 AND BIOL 221

The course focuses on explaining the structure of different microorganisms in relation to their environmental and nutritional requirements. The course aims at rendering the students familiar with different laboratory techniques for isolation and identification of pathogenic viruses, bacteria and fungi. Emphasis will be placed on learning the complex nature and functioning of human immune system, host-parasite relationship in addition to different types of hypersensitivity reactions and autoimmune diseases.
