Ambassador Delivers a Speech about Human Rights at BAU
“The Legal Framework of Human Rights as a Necessary
Protection for Individual Citizens and for Diversity” was the title of
the lecture delivered by the British Ambassador Mrs. Francis Guy on the
11th of March 2010 in Jamal Abdel Nasser Hall at Beirut Arab University,
Beirut Campus.
The speech was scheduled as a response to the invitation sent by the
Human Rights Center at Beirut Arab University represented by its
Director Dr. Omar Houri . The speech was followed by an open discussion
with the students about the various human rights issues.
The event was attended by the President of Beirut Arab University Prof.
Amr Galal El-Adawi, Secretary General Mr. Issam Houri, deans and
directors in addition to students from all Faculties.
Dr. Houri welcomed the ambassador as it is the first time she pays a
visit to Beirut Arab University and led the discussion which dealt with
various topics on human rights such as the way to achieve protection and
the necessary precautions to ensure and deepen the right of the
individual to express himself in addition to other issues related to the
topic.
