Under the patronage and in the presence of the Lebanese Prime Minister Sheikh Saeddine Rafic Al Hariri, Beirut Arab University celebrated its 50th Anniversary in a grand celebration held in Pavillon Royal, Biel on the 11th of November 2009 at 8 p.m.
The Celebration was attended by various current and former ministers and deputies, diplomats, ambassadors, university presidents, academic delegates from Alexandria University, the academic and the Senior Administrative Staff, BAU Alumni and many other distinguished personnel in society and the different fields of media.
After the Lebanese Anthem, several speeches were delivered respectively starting with the eldest alumni Mr. Ibrahim Halawi, followed by the Academic Staff Representative Dr. Mohamad Majzoub, then Beirut Arab University Secretary General Mr. Issam Houri , President of Beirut Arab University Prof. Amr Galal El-Adawi, President of Alexandria University Prof. Hend Hanafi, Head of Board of Trustees of Bir and Al Ihsan Institution Mr. Toufic Houri and finally the Lebanese Prime Minister Sheikh Sadeddine Rafic Al Hariri.
During the celebration various live testimonies from different people who have been coeval with Beirut Arab University through the past 50 years were presented through a slide show on huge screens distributed all over the hall, in addition to a short movie that contained snap shots from different locations and students in Beirut and Debbieh Campuses. However, and for the first time, the new University Anthem was performed by the University Choir whereby an impressive and awesome atmosphere was created.
Looking forward for more success and more brightness in the coming 50 years!!
