Biography

Ahmed Abyad received his Bachelor degree in dental surgery with honors from BAU. He pursued his masters in sciences degree in the field of dental biomaterials from the University of Manchester. University counsel presented him with a distinction award for his academic excellence. He researched dental composite materials at the Manchester Dental Biomaterials research group under the supervision of Professor David Watts. He is a member of UK society for biomaterials. Currently, Dr. Abyad is senior lecturer teaching undergraduate biomaterials to firsts year and second year students, as well as postgraduate M1 students. It is now his second year in perusing a PhD in Operative and esthetic dentistry.

Teaching

Teaching Experience

Throughout delivering the courses BIOM 221, BIOM 222, BIOM 223 and BIOM 602, several topics in the field of dental biomaterials have been covered and taught. These included basic material properties, principles of testing, restorative dental materials, auxiliary dental materials, as well as advanced imaging and sample preparation techniques.

Students of the clinical stage are also assisted in their clinical practice through instructing in the operative dentistry division.

Research

The research interest are: Dental resin composites, Filler particles, photoinitiators, adhesives, therapeutic adhesive agents, resin cements, ceramics and impression materials, dental devices.
