Overall Aims of Course
The course aims to provide students with the basic knowledge and understandings of the main four chromatographic types (Adsorption, Partition, Ion Exchange, and Gel Filtration) and different techniques (CC, PC, TLC, HPLC, GC). The course aims also to acquire the students with skills to use different types and techniques for the separation of chemical constituents from their natural sources. Furthermore, the course aims at providing good understanding and application of the mentioned techniques and their essential role in separation of different chemical constituents from their respective sources. In addition, intensive information about the use the different spectroscopic techniques and methods to interpret the chemical structures of selected examples of naturally occurring medicinal compounds, are also provided.
