Catalog Description:

Introduction to the chemistry of carbohydrate. Chemistry of lipids and fats, amino acids, peptides, proteins. Study of nucleosides, nucleotides and nucleic acids. Practical applied experiments related to the above topics.

Course Objectives:


This course introduces the identification, classifications, synthesis and reactions of biomolecules such as carbohydrates, peptides, proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. It also emphasizes on the three-dimensional structures and fundamental concepts of stereochemistry. Practical: Selected experiments to illustrate the topics discussed.
