Celebrating its Fiftieth Anniversary, and in conjunction with the launching of the series of events that Beirut Arab University shall witness during this remarkable year, Beirut Arab University along with the Lebanese Association for the Advancement of Science, and in collaboration with the National Council for Scientific Research in Lebanon, organized the 16th International Scientific Conference which was held from the 13th till the 15th of November 2009 within the premises of  Beirut Arab University campus under the patronage of the Lebanese President General Michelle Souleiman.

The conference was attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Hassan Mneimneh representing the Lebanese President General Souleiman, Deputy Mohamad Rahhal representing the Lebanese Prime Minister Sheikh Saeddine Rafic Al Hariri, Deputy Mrs. Bahia Hariri, Deputy Khaeld Zouhrouman and many other academic, official, and social personalities. The conference was also marked by the presence of many specialist researchers who came from different countries to participate and share their experience in these fields.

The conference discussed several issues related to the latest advances in the various scientific fields at the national, regional and international levels. An exhibition related to medicine, science and engineering was held during the conference workshops.
