This course is involved with understanding basic principles of research techniques and methodologies as applied to healthcare professions.

Human beings possess the ability to think rationally and logically, which in turn leads to curiosity. Research, or the process thereof, answers the question Why? leads researchers to conduct studies to find answers to questions. Research and the application of the scientific method will enable us to answer such questions. Research Techniques is tailored to introduce the medical laboratory technology student and other health science majors to the significance and pillars of research. The major components of this course are: What is research? Developing the research proposal Critical review of the literature and information resources; Considering ethics in research; Conducting experimental and quasi-experimental research Data collection through surveys and self-reports; Sampling designs and techniques; Qualitative research; Evaluation research; Analytical epidemiologic studies; Analyzing and interpreting data; Techniques for data presentation; Writing a research report and publication.
