In a step to continue seeking the development of teaching and learning methods, the Faculty of Architecture-Design and Built Environment at Beirut Arab University inaugurated the Virtual Reality Lab under the patronage and the presence of BAU President Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi.
The Virtual Reality Lab is equipped with a 3D Laser Scanner with a range of 150 meters which is useful in surveying existing buildings and areas, particularly heritage areas and conducting necessary studies and modifications which augments the restructuring and planning process.
The laboratory is also equipped with 3D glasses and motion control gloves as well as the different types of virtual reality simulations (Rifts - Oculus - Discussion table), enabling the student to build and walk through architectural or urban models and study the design variables of lighting, materials, etc.
Faculty Dean Professor Ibtihal El-Bastawissi stressed on the importance of establishing this lab which serves and develops the educational process at all stages, and provides service to the community through cooperation to develop the built environment. The Dean also extended her thanks to BAU President, Bank Audi, Bank Med, Bank of Beirut and IBL Bank for their financial support.”
