During the annual dinner of the Consulting Engineers Branch-Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut, President Architect Jad Tabet honoured Dr. Said Al-Jazairi and a group of distinguished architecture professors at the Lebanese universities at Seaside Pavilion. Dr. Jazairi’s award was given as a token of loyalty for his contributions over 50 years towards BAU and the Faculty.
The ceremony was attended by BAU President Professor Amr Galal El-Adawi, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture- Design and Built Environment Prof. Ibtehal Bastawissi, President of the Architect's Consultants Branch Architect Elie Khoury.
President El- Adawi stressed in his a speech on the long history of the Faculty of Architecture- Design and Built Environment which was established in 1962 and the role it has played in interacting with the local and international communities. He also mentioned that the faculty has always sought to build partnerships with a wide range of regional and international faculties and schools of architecture, and has been accredited from the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2012 (RIBA-Part 1) and 2016 (RIBA-Part 2).
Prof. El- Adawi then, gave an overview of Dr. Jazairi who occupies the position of the President of the University’s Board of Trustees starting from the Faculty of Architecture at BAU then Sorbonne University in Paris, and finally his PHD from Beaux-Arts Paris. He also talked about Jazairi’s academic and professional contributions.
Afterwards, the President of the Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut Architect Jad Tabet presented a commemorative shield to Dr. Jazairi.
