ENGL 423 Modern Drama المسرح الحديث(3Crs:3Lec)

The course introduces students to the emergence of what has come to be termed “Modern Drama”. Students learn about the various socio-economic and political factors that gave rise to a new theatrical tradition in Europe, as well as about the different characteristic features defining the genre. The course further traces the evolution of dramatic techniques, themes and movements from Ibsen through Strindberg and Eliot, to Osborne and Beckett.
