Course Description

The overall focus of this course is on the theory and practice of communication in the pharmacy setting. With patient empowerment being the ultimate goal, instruction will be directed toward improving communication skills in professional relationships with patients. The course uses different techniques including role playing exercises to improve the student’s ability to conduct patient centered consultations. The course also prepares students to collaborate in developing effective interpersonal communication skills with pharmacist colleagues and other health practitioners. Pre-requisite: PHAR 464 or PHAR 474
