Course Description

The course introduces students to the major developments witnessed by critical theory in the 20th century. Thus students learn about Russian Formalism, Psycho-analysis, Feminism, Marxism, Postcolonialism and Postmodernism. In addition to the basic theoretical principles informing each of these movements, students analyze at least two literary texts as an application of each theory.
