Course Description

  The course introduces students to the origins, various features and developments of drama in England from Morality plays, through the Renaissance, to the 17th Century and the Restoration. The course familiarizes students with the shifts in characterization, themes and the significance of plays. Plays such as Everyman and by influential dramatists such as Christopher Marlowe, Thomas Kyd, Ben Jonson, John Webster, Oliver Goldsmith, Sheridan and others are read and analyzed.
